As of my
last update in September 2021, candidates who have taken the IELTS exam in
India have the option to retake a single module (Listening, Reading, Writing,
or Speaking) if they wish to improve their scores in that specific section.
Here's how the single module retake process typically works:
1.
Identify the Module to Retake: If you want to improve your score
in a particular module, such as Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking, you
can choose to retake only that specific module.
2. Register for the
Single Module Retake: Contact your nearest British Council or IDP India center,
which are the two authorized organizations responsible for conducting IELTSexams in India. Inquire about the availability of single module retakes and the
registration process.
3. Pay the Fee: You'll
be required to pay the exam fee for the specific module you wish to retake. The
fee for a single module retake is generally lower than the fee for taking the
entire IELTS test.
4. Schedule the Retake:
Once you have registered and paid the fee, you'll receive information about
available test dates for the single module retake. Choose a suitable date and
time for your retake.
5. Prepare for the
Retake: Use the time between your initial test and the single module retake to
focus on improving your skills in the specific module you want to retake.
Practice regularly using official IELTS practice materials and other resources.
6. Receive a New Test
Report Form (TRF): After completing the single module retake, you'll receive a
new Test Report Form (TRF) that includes your updated score for the specific
module you retake. The scores from your previous IELTS test for the other
modules remain valid for two years.
Keep in mind that policies and procedures may vary slightly depending on the test center and the specific circumstances. It's essential to check with the British Council or IDP India for the most up-to-date information and guidance on single module retakes for IELTS in India.
